Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane (MSM) is an organic sulfur unlike sulfur produced from an inorganic source such as methanol, a petroleum based product. MSM is biologically organic sulfur, a molecule found in food, plants, and every cell of the body. Organic sulfur is critical to the stabilization of the connective tissue matrix of cartilage, bones, tendons, and ligaments. Research has shown MSM is important for the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans and prevents certain enzymes from destroying healthy cartilage tissue.*
