This buffered, non-acidic Vitamin C supplement is superior as it also contains Alpha Lipoic Acid, an antioxidant known to help regenerate both Vitamin C and glutathione in the body. The addition of Bioflavonoids as synergists helps to create a well-absorbed, highly effective Vitamin C supplement. Cautions and Interactions Estrogen-containing contraceptives are known to lower vitamin C levels in plasma and white blood cells; and aspirin can reduce vitamin C absorption. May interact with Coumadin; and at high doses may affect some laboratory tests, such as serum bilirubin, serum creatine, and the guaiac assay for occult blood. Possible side effects of Lipoic Acid supplementation are allergic reactions affecting the skin, including rashes, hives and itching. Safety of Lipoic Acid in pregnancy and lactation has not been determined.
